This documentary takes a look the senior year of a girls’ high school step and dance team in inner-city Baltimore. The girls come from disadvantaged families, where luxuries are non-existent and even necessities such as food are scarce.
Being part of their school's step team gives these girls hope to change their lives around. The girls are taught to pay attention to their school work in order to attain a better future for themselves. As each one tries to become the first in their families to attend college, the girls strive to make their dancing a success against the backdrop of social unrest in the troubled city and the country they live in.
